dlRaw-preview color IR workflow
These screenshots of dlRaw-preview show my color infrared workflow. The complete workflow is also possible with UFRaw and gimp, but since here all filters work on 16 bit you get much better results. Particularly the wavelet denoising and color and contrast corrections work with less artifacts.
As use see, it starts with setting the white balance adapted to infrared, then the usual brightening, gamma and contrast settings. Then the trick is to switch the red and the blue channel, what is done here in the channel mixer on the fourth screenshot. Denoising and sharpening, and then the fun part starts... On the second page I've collected some of the possible results, and after some more playing around I got to a very nice duotone version.
